Ten Things to Read for Fantasy Fiction Fans.
Here are Ten books which come highly recommended if you enjoy fantasy fiction. The list doesn’t include Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Game of Thrones as the assumption is that you are from planet Earth.
1. The Name of The Wind (Kingkiller Chronicles) by Patrick Rothfuss.
This is up there with the best Fantasy books of all time. Book 1 of an ongoing trilogy which follows Kvothe and his journey to become a powerful wizard. Don’t take this lame description as a reason not to read it! You will not be disappointed.
2. The Final Empire (Mistborn book 1) by Brandon Sanderson.
Another classic which is part of the Mistborn series. Again if you are a fan of magic and monsters then this is for you.

3. Eragon (The Inheritance Cycle) by Christopher Paolini
If you’ve seen the movie, don’t be put off. I loved the books but thought the movie sucked. Eragon finds a dragons egg and the adventure begins.

4. The Way of Kings (The Starlight Archive 1) by Brandon Sanderson
The second Brandon Sanderson recommendation in this list. That’s because he is a great fantasy author.

5. The Eye of the World (The Wheel of Time 1) by Robert Jordan
There are a lot of books in this series and I haven’t even made it half way yet. If you are wordy and have staying power then this is for you.

6. Magician: Apprentice (Rift War 1) by Raymond E. Faust
Follow the journey of Pug.

7. Northern Lights (His Dark Materials 1) by Philip Pullman
Also known as the Golden Compass. Another example of the movie not doing the book a service.

8. The Pillars of The Earth (Kingsbridge 1) by Ken Follett
The odd one out of this list as missing magicians and Dragons but a must read none the less.

9. Assassin’s Apprentice (Farseer Trilogy 1) by Robin Hobb
The story of Fitz and his journey to become a royal Assassin.

10. The Lies of Loch Lamora (Gentleman Bastard 1) by Scott Lynch
Death, Slavery and Thievery make for a thrilling read.
